Rationale

With both English and Scottish heritage, the armiger wanted to combine both religious and cultural heritage into his armorial bearings. The escallops recall the armiger’s pilgrimage through life and are intentionally rendered with sharp ends, alluding to the triangle which is an international symbol for recovery. Each escallop is enfiled with a vidame’s coronet to represent the armiger’s calling to the laity. The tinctures of the eschuteon are meant to allude to the national colors. The armiger’s favorite image of Christ the Good Shepherd is represented on the crest with a lamb rampant holding an English market stick (used for shepherding as well as a walking stick for support) and bearing the ancient shield of Constantine. The crest creates a compelling image of a pilgrim preparing for battle with instruments of love and compassion.
