Biography: Charles N. Byles was born in Kentucky in 1844 and accompanied his Parents, Rev. Charles and Sarah Byles, to the Pacific Northwest by wagon train in 1853. Settling in the state of Washington, Charles N. Byles became a successful surveyor, farmer and banker. He platted the town of Motesano, Washington and upon his death in 1882, was called the "Father of Montesano" by the nespapers.
