Mantling: Gules doubled Argent
Motto: Nil sine magno vita labore dedit mortalibus (Life granted nothing to mortals without pain)

Rationale

Argent represents my birthplace of Sterling (as in silver), Illinois. Gules represents the blood of my ancestors and the heat of life's pressures. The gridiron is the symbol of St. Laurentius, my family's patron, who was martyred by the Romans by being grilled alive. Its fleury corners represent my family's western European orgins. The quill represents the ability to take the trials and tribulations of life (the gridiron), and rise above them creatively. This ties into the motto that life has given nothing to men without hard work and pain. The roadrunner symbolizes my life travelling for work and my connection to the State of Arizona, where I attended university.
