Design rationale

For the arms, they are based on a number of Trujillo arms in existence, but differenced by using only four hurts in the shape of a cross and with a border compony Azure charged with fleur-de-lis Or to represent San Louis and the traditional Gules with an Or saltire. For the crest, a singular snow-capped mountain to represent the Colorado Rockies and with a cross in front of it with a shield bearing the arms of San Louis to represent San Louis.
