Biographical information

Mr. Giebe lives with his wife of 40-plus years, Judy, in Chesterfield, St. Louis County, Missouri. He is a retired Senior Vice President of Moog Automotive. The armiger is an honorably discharged United States Army Reserve veteran, who was called to action during the Berlin Crisis, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Cold War Certificate for his service. He was won several awards, including the Patriotism Medal from the National Police Chief's Hall of Fame. Additionally, he was made a knight of the Portuguese Royal Order of St. Michael of the Wing. Mr. Giebe is a faithful Catholic and is active in his parish and in the Knights of Columbus.

Design rationale

The Prussian carp, "giebel" in German, are a cant for the armiger's surname. "Giebel" also means "gable", thus making the chevrons a visual cant. The chevrons also represent the armiger's three grown children, and reflect his honorable service as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve. The cross flory in base represent his Christian faith; the cross of Christ is the base of his belief. The fleur-de-lis on the arms of the cross represent the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom he has a great devotion, and are also a symbol of his life-long home of St. Louis. (The field tinctures also reflect this Marian devotion.)

The American bald eagle in the crest represents the armiger's pride of and love for his country, and the fleur-de-lis it grasps has symbolism as above.
