Design rationale

The tinctures used represent land and water, echoing Zebís passion for the environment. Blue and gold also stand for Zebís two alma maters, the University of Delaware and the University of Michigan, while green is his favorite color. The cross crosslets individually symbolize the evangelism of the Gospel to the four corners of the world; collectively, the three figures represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The chevron both stands for Zebís chosen profession of urban planning (allied with the building trades) and echoes his heritage in the Scottish Clan Mackay. The Great Blue Heron of the crest suggests environmental concern, a love of birding, and Zebís upbringing in the Mid-Atlantic/Chesapeake Bay area.
