Biographical information

He was born in Brooklyn, NY to a Finnish father and a Norwegian mother. His father died young, so he left school early and helped his mother support his two sisters. He joined the military and afterwards became a NYC Police Officer. After retiring he opened a metal shop that remained in the family for more than 50 years. He was a quiet and gentle giant of a man who served as an example to his sons and grand children on how to live a life of kindness and courage.

Design rationale

The stag's head represents one who will not fight without provocation. The hammer represents the trade emblem of a blacksmith.
