  • Grandfather: Hugo Bernard Glass (1887-1981) Rosebud, Texas

Design rationale

The bull represents the family's tradition of ranching. On its left hip is the family's brand of a backwards "J" and a "G". This goes back to the initials of my grandfather's great-grandfather, Johann Glass born 03 Oct 1782, died 02 Apr 1870. In Asia, the depiction of an animal grasping a ball serves to warn others that a member of the family is a student of the marshal arts. The glass goblet represents the family's surname.

The crest contains red moose antlers, which are on the shield of a coat of arms used by ex-patriates of Ostpreussen, Prussia, the state from which my ancestors originated. The white star in the center represents the "Lone Star of Texas," the state where the family settled and still resides.
