Biographical information

Rob is a conflict resolution consultant and professional mediator holding a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Administration. He is the Founder and Principle of Mosaic Group LLC, Past Chairperson of the Ohio Community Mediation Association, and part time Adjunct Faculty.

Design rationale

The design is symbolic of Rob’s work as a conflict resolution consultant and professional mediator. His passion for the prevention and early intervention to conflict, in hope of helping people resolve conflicts before their acts become violent or fatal, is a result of his former experience as a paramedic.

The Yin-Yang represents change through conflict intervention and the transformation of opposites to integration and collaboration which requires understanding and reflective action instead of reaction. It also represents the interconnection of all humanity.

The Lion couchant represent the neutral third party.

The Double Headed Raven Displayed symbolizes the armiger being watchful and vigilant (equitable) for both or (all) parties.

The Oak Wreath is symbolic of Rob’s recognized civic achievements as a paramedic and conflict resolution professional.

Historical note

It was necessary for Rob to assume a unique Coat of Arms due to his complex parentage. In addition, no granted Arms were found during research of the paternal and maternal lines.

Rob was named after his mother’s deceased first husband Robert May. His biological father is Eugene Swimer. He was adopted by his stepfather Thomas W. Gerhardt. And in 1983 as an adult he legally changed his name to that of his second stepfather Clarke J. McLaughlin.

Rob’s biological Father is a descendant of Polish Jews however the pedigree can only be traced to Rob’s Great Grandfather Adolf/Adolph Swimer.

Rob’s Mother is a descendant of English immigrants and the pedigree can be traced 14 generations to John Jennens born about 1500 in Birmingham England, and died August 03, 1575 in Birmingham, Worchester Co. England.
