I am a retired Air Defense Artillery Officer, and the Red and Gold reflect that Branch's colors. The Trumpets represent my lifelong avocation, playing trumpet and bugle in a variety of venues. The oak leaves and acorns are a family tradition, and a silver oak leaf is the badge of my retired rank (Lt. Colonel). The three billets (Gads) are a pun on the family name, and a nod toward the Canting Arms sometimes used in the family. The Crest represents Saint Barbara, the Patron Saint of Artillerymen (I am a proud member of the Air Defense Artillery Order of Saint Barbara). The motto reflects another family tradition and the coincidental meaning of the word "Gaddy", i.e. "one who moves on".
