Design rationale

The rock hammer represents Brian’s profession as a geologist, and the two clovers (trefoils) represent Brian and Janet Lynn (Sheridan) his wife. His daughter Brenna Lynn is represented as a Tudor rose. The ermine (Jeffs) and gold (Or) and the trefoils (Sheridan) are from Arms of unrelated Jeffs’ and Sheridan’s.

The crest is an inverted solid Delta, a symbol used to denote the water-table and represents Brian’s career in hydrogeology. The stag’s antlers suggest Brian’s love of hunting and the natural world.
