Design rationale

Purple is a color of the armiger’s university, Wilfrid Laurier University, and his wife’s university, Western Ontario. Gold is his favorite color. The hunting horn is found in Scottish Forrester arms, and it makes a reference to the name. The golden retriever is his favorite dog breed. The beaver is a symbol of Canada and, as a builder of lodges, also represents the armiger’s involvement in Freemasonry. The fleur-de-lis represents his service to the world Scouting movement; it is also found in Scottish Morrison arms, an allusion to his wife's maiden name. She and the armiger’s mother were both born in Quebec, which is also represented by the fleur-de-lis. The Loyalist military coronet refers to the armiger’s ancestor, who fought for the Crown in the 1st Regiment of the Westchester County Militia during the American Revolutionary War. The fact that the beaver is holding the fleur-de-lis with its left paw indicates that he is left-handed.
